Martha Mariam Vanitha Samajam (MMVS)
“Be kind to each other, sympathetic, forgiving each other as God has forgiven you through Christ.” - Ephesians 4:32
The Martha Mariam Vanitha Samajam (MMVS), was established with the consent of H. H. Moran Mar Baselios Geevarghese the second in 1928. The organisation was named in honour of Mother Mary and the qualities she embodies.
MMVS has been operating diligently to ensure its smooth functioning over the decades, which includes several activities and events. Its meetings are conducted on church premises every month, additionally under the guidance of the Vicar. Cottage prayers are held as and when required. Similarly, as per the availability of the Vicar, retreats are also organised. Every year from 15th July to 15th Aug, chain readings of the Bible are also hosted. As fund raising activity, the MMVS organises food sales on various occasions. The amount collected is used for charity purpose.
Active participation is key to the efficient and cohesive functioning of the MMVS. In fact, always a good number of members have taken part in zonal and annual conferences to gain knowledge. Women’s Day is another important part of the MMVS calendar. It has always been marked with enthusiasm, especially as it is an organisation built on the values of Mother Mary. Bible readings are a key part of the event, along with sharing of positive messages. Members have always shown interest and enthusiasm in appearing in the examination conducted by MMVS.
All of us strongly believe in the motto, which is: 'Prarithuka, Pravarthikuka, Prakashikuka.'
