About Us

Established in 1980, the St. George Orthodox Syrian Church is part of the Bombay Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Church. The church caters to over 140 families staying around Kandivali, Borivali and Dahisar. The church is blessed to be consecrated by H. H. Baselios Didymos I, Catholicos of the East (when he was a Bishop). The church has an enthusiastic congregation with spiritual organisations of the church contributing to all aspects of worship, study and service. Active units of the Sunday School, Mar Gregorious Orthodox Christian Syrian Movement, Orthodox Christian Youth Movement, Martha Mariam Vanitha Samajam, INAMS, Divyabodhanam, AMOS etc., participate in unit level as well as diocesan level activities. The church is especially keen on charitable activities. The Mar Theophilos Charitable Clinic has been doing yeoman service since 1998, when it was inaugurated by H. H. Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Mathews II. The clinic offers free medical service to the underprivileged staying around the church. In addition, the church serves a beacon of hope with regular activities like blood donation camps, food distribution, supplying school kits to disadvantaged children and supporting abandoned elderly on a regular basis. The church also provides medical and financial help to the deserving.

Prayer Groups

The congregration of the Parish is split into six vibrant Prayer Groups, based on the location where they stay. Each Prayer Group meets up once a month at the residence of one of their members; where they pray collectively, sing hymns of praise and worship, have Bible Readings and reflect on the verse for the day. Each of these Prayer Group is named after a Saint.
